This is absolutely one of the best images that I have heard for this whole love/connection/BC approach.
Counter-intuitive. Not only that! Counter, so often, to what we are actually TAUGHT if we've stumbled into "parenting classes" or read books. Aren't you supposed to withdraw? Aren't you supposed to point to the "rewards chart"? Or start counting? Mention the consequences?

I took things the wrong direction with my foster child last night. He actually called me on it. He said something like, "When I'm upset and you yell at me, you just make things worse." I always know it later. (Well, that's an improvement.) But, I need to know it at the time. So I hope these images will stick in my brain!
